    You know…I, actually, agree with you! I was an early adopter of social media and its application to marketing. In fact, I have been struggling to figure out twitter and its proper category..I created an account a few years ago just to play around…but must admit..it was never my bag. And the way I used it in the early days, was just what it was used for today, broadcasting. After a while, I, too, realized it was really only 1-way communication vs 2-way communication. So, you just validated my theory–well, you and some smart kids from Harvard 😉 Excellent post!

    actually. any time i can use a whiz bang study i do because it makes me sound smart and permits me the joy to type whiz bang. oh. and to have a monologue with anyone who may be lurking.

    I have noticed a few small, local businesses (notably restaurants in NYC) put the whole “following” thing to good use by tweeting specials, updates, daily menus, etc. They’re actually posting Twitter handles in their windows so regulars can find them.

    One other thing I’m noticing lately is people are tweeting and sending it everywhere they possibly can — Facebook, LinkedIn, their blog, their website homepage, etc. Will be interesting to see the convergence fall-out.
