Ok.

I had torn out an advertisement from The Economist magazine 2013 Year in Review issue and stuck it in a folder … only to rediscover it the other day.

It is not the most creative advertisement but … boy oh boy … what a message … I would even call it enlightened thinking, enlightened communication and … well … just being enlightened.

Example from the ad:

“Never overlook unethical behavior because you’re better served by ignorance.”  <my new poster for enlightened conflict>

The CFA Institute makes a demand for a bolder voice for ethics. To stand up for not only ‘doing what is right’ but also ‘doing it the right way.”

This is powerful stuff.

And while they speak about ethics they continue to do it under the auspices of enabling economic progress.

In other words … economic progress and ethics are not mutually exclusive.

I haven’t seen this ad since then.

Shit.

There should be posters of this sonofabitch up on every wall in every business in every industry.

And every business school.

And … well … everywhere.

CFA Institute Integrity List: 50 Ways to Restore Trust in the Investment Industry

Even with the obvious self-promotion in some of the ‘ways’ this list is invaluable.

This is something all of us in the business world should embrace.
