key to tattoo unlock

——–

“Life is painful. It has thorns, like the stem of a rose.

Culture and art are the roses that bloom on the stem.

The flower is yourself, your humanity.

Art is the liberation of the humanity inside yourself.”

Daisaku Ikeda

So. Sometimes I find an image that makes me think.

This was one.

A tattoo of a small lock on the inside of someone’s wrist.

I love it because it suggests that Life is about finding the key … or keys … that unlock what is within us.

It suggests a life of searching.

It suggests a quest.

It suggests doors.

It suggests treasures.

It suggests that important things can be found … if you can unlock the way to them.

What it doesn’t suggest is answers.  It suggests questions.

key to lifeI would guess the person with the tattoo had something else in mind <most likely something like: ‘locking yourself – who I want to be – within … to be sure you didn’t release it without some thought’>.

That’s a good thought too.

Regardless.

I liked this.

It was different.

It is a statement.

It is not vanity.

All that said.

I do believe Life is meant to be unlocked.

I do believe whatever purpose you have <and i believe everyone has the ability to do something meaningful> is within you if you can release it.

I do believe success in Life, beyond luck, is often found in unlocking what already exists within you.

Your ability.

Your potential.

Your … well … whatever ‘you’ is.

Look.

keys to life too manyUnlocking what is within is not about finding some secret or that there is even a secret to find in Life at all or even finding something new <that did not exist within you> on your way thru Life.

Life is not some personal adventure where you go to find yourself.

Unlocking is simply opening up something that already exists within you so you need not ‘find’ anything on your Life adventure but rather you go ‘do’ things to fulfill your purpose within your Life adventure.

And, yes.

I do believe everyone has some treasure locked within themselves.

Something that isn’t given or sold to them, something that is already there.

It just needs to be unlocked.
