Well.
This is about a poem and Life.
Even if you are not a poetry fan the ‘the words of life I have never understood’ line alone probably makes this a worthwhile read. But the entire <short> poem is a good insightful read.
Here is the poem:
In my voice
there is at least a sign
of living geometry
the words of life
I have never understood
the absurd
difference that runs
between death and the illusion
of the heart’s beating.

Whew. The geometry of what I have never understood. That summarizes pretty much what all of us think about life. We try and make Life a little more orderly, a little more linear, in the attempt to make some sense of it all and maybe there is a formulaic aspect of life or, well, at least it feels likes there is. That said. Shit, we sure do struggle to make the formula work.
Why?
The absurd things we encounter that run between life and death.
The absurdity and seeming randomness of life.
The absurdity that geometry has no formula for and never seems to offer us some consistent solutions.
This all affects us because, well, it is just fucking difficult to make sense of the absurd. It is difficult to understand the living geometry <in its constant changing shapes and sizes> of Life. It is difficult to accept illusions when we desire tangible.
Just ponder.
Life is a living geometry of multiple dimensions in which we are constantly seeing, and learning, new angles and edges and shapes. And sometimes it appears absurd only because we have never seen some of the shapes before. Or maybe we were never taught that particular geometry. We are constantly trying to make sense of things that often don’t really make sense, have a shape we can grasp easily and sometimes even seems absurd. And then, even when we do learn something and find something un-absurd in some shape we feel comfortable with, the entire universe shifts ever so slightly and we have to unlearn everything we just learned.
This all makes Life incredibly hard to understand and what we don’t understand stresses us out.
Anyway.
I imagine, in the end, we would like to believe that life has nothing really new & original to throw at us and we can be <even if we aren’t actually> prepared for the odd geometric shapes life share with us.
And that belief is false.
Life is absurd.
I know. I know. That may make it sound like I am suggesting you give up on any planning or plans or even any attempts to try and manage your own destiny and success. I am not doing that. What I am suggesting is that if you accept the fact that Life, in and of itself, is relatively absurd, inconsistent and, in general, not very orderly you have a chance of not only maintaining your sanity <and a little sense of humor> but you may actually become better at navigating the geometry of Life.
Look.
Life is a living geometry and you can drive yourself absolutely nuts if you think you ‘should have known’ or ‘been prepared’ or ‘could have learned’ whatever it is that you are being approached by that is throwing you a curve ball.
Absolutely frickin’ nuts.
Life is the ‘absurd that runs between death and illusion.’ Within the everyday days of Life, even within the grind, we are constantly faced with absurd things.
Accept it … or … well … go nuts.
Even if you do not want to think about all of this … well … what a great poem, isn’t it?
