lost in cheeseland

So.

I only have 6 links on my site.

Not that I don’t read other people’s blogs and visit sites … it’s just that I try to keep it a special few where I can pretty much guarantee some clever writing and some insightful thinking.

Well.

Through Jamie (of lifeintranslation.com fame) who moved to Paris and eventually got married to a frenchman <the lucky guy> I had the delight of discovering an incredible Parisian blog:

www.lostincheeseland.com

It checks a number of my boxes.

It’s about Paris.

It’s really well written.

Every post is worth reading.

The pictures are frickin’ amazing (the blog writer is also a photographer).

And I am envious of the blog owner <by the way … that is almost a certain common denominator of all my links … I will explain later>.

Envious <in this case> as to the fact she is an American having chosen to live in Paris … making it work … and doing a great job writing about others who are doing so.

Anyway.

It is worth visiting on occasion.

I have asked the blog owner for permission to make it a link but haven’t heard back yet. Until then I thought I would just send people toward it.

Ok.

The envy thing.

It’s not a bad thing … but for example …

Jamie (alifeintranslation) has an enviable ability to capture a moment when she writes … in an incredibly concise way that permits you to actually experience it.

David (the rest is unwritten) is one of the best young writers out there. Has an enviable ability to take something from inside himself, something personal and what should be highly emotional, and share it with people in such a practical way that you don’t feel like a voyeur but rather it makes you look inside yourself.

Brian (storypeople) and Hugh (gapingvoid) are two sides of the same coin. There is no one better than these two at concisely capturing a thought <one focusing on life as a family and the other focusing on life from a business perspective> .  I will say it again. No one is better at this than these two.

No one.

Of course I envy that. I am human.

Bob (Adcontrarian) has a unique ability to articulate common sense. You would think that would be easy but it is not. Mainly because people want to caveat the shit out of their opinions & beliefs. He doesn’t waste energy doing so and in doing that … well … he gives you some nice straightforward common sense thoughts. The kinds of things you wish you had written.

Anyway.

I learn when I read their stuff. And, hopefully, it makes me a better person … and writer.

Now I have another writer and blog I envy <and learn from>.

Lostincheesland.
