“Confidence isn’t walking into a room with your nose in the air and thinking you are better than everyone else.

It’s walking into a room and not having to compare yourself to anyone in the first place.”

Ok.

I have never seen this quote before.

I loved it … walking into a room and not having to compare yourself to anyone in the first place … what a great thought.

It implies confidence is a calmness.

It implies confidence is a stillness.

It implies confidence is … well … something and nothing <at exactly the same time>.

confidence comes not

Huh?

It is something in that it centers a person so that they can withstand whatever damage Life may decide they are due that day.

That tangible pillar to hold on to is something.

It is nothing in that it is not words or any specific action or behavior but rather an intangible attitude that resides somewhere between “sure enough to be” and “unsure enough to not be too much.” That intangible is an empty space where the only thing that keeps you from falling into nothingness is the ‘something’ part of confidence.

Maybe it is easier just to say it is a comfort in knowing getting it right all the time is not the objective but an intent … an attitude.

“A little damage makes people more interesting, right?”

===========

It is not really about being worried what people think about you but instead worrying about how you feel about you.

It is not really about being worried how people will judge you because you will inevitably judge yourself in the harshest light and harshest terms … more so than anyone else ever could … so you don’t even have to think about their judgement.

I am fairly sure that it was Hemingway who said “nothing hurts if you don’t let it.”

And maybe that is where confidence resides.

It is a willingness to be damaged but not hurt.

Anyway.

I loved the quote I used in the opening.be find yourself and be

I have written about confidence, and the bullshit positive pseudo-psychology tries to sell you, before and tried to showcase the fragility & strength of confidence.

I, personally, do not believe you instill a belief of confidence in yourself but rather it is something that grows from within <if you let it>.

Confidence is the calmness which permits you to be the only hero that matters … your own.

Gosh … I loved that quote.

She needed a hero so she became one.
