So.

This morning I cruised thru the sports news to see my undergraduate alma mater, USC, had just won the conference women’s tennis championship beating the ever hated UCLA <fight on!>.

And they broke the trophy.

Oops.

Yup.

They dropped the trophy … and it shattered.

This made me think about all those wacky trophy ceremonies at the end of the championship games & events where they ask someone to pick up some huge incredibly unwieldy trophy and why they are not dropped more often.

Well.

It happens.

And while the USC women’s tennis team is kind of funny … this one is hilarious.

In soccer … Real Madrid won the Spanish Cup but the celebrations went awry when Sergio Ramos dropped the trophy <oops part 1> from the roof of an open topped bus … and then the bus frickin’ ran it over <oops part 2>.

This one may be even better.

While on a recruiting trip at University of Florida the recruit knocked Florida’s 2006 national championship crystal football from its pedestal.

By the way … the recruit did not go to Florida.
By the way … the Waterford Crystal trophy is worth something like $30,000.

And in 2012 Alabama’s crystal national title trophy was shattered … oops … when the father of an Alabama player accidentally knocked the trophy over when he stumbled on a rug that was under the trophy display.

I love this shit.

I wish it would happen more often.

I am sure trophies & awards are of value in some way but in general they seem inordinately exorbitant and useless.

All I know is that after watching the Stays in Las Vegas commercial maybe it does have some use:

about life and how it is lived, accident, accidentally knocked over, accidentally knocked the trophy over, accidents, accountable decision making, actions today make who i am tomorrow, aligning perceptions and behavior creates satisfaction, analyzing actual behavior, anything that can go wrong will, architects of fate, ask someone to pick up some huge incredibly unwieldy trophy, astonish people, at some point you are accountable, attacking doubt, attitudes and behavior, avoid the gray, be who you are, beating the ever hated UCLA, being a words guy, being distinct, being honest to yourself, believe, benefit, big mistake big succcesses, big mistakes, black or white, brilliance in its use of words, bring out the broom and dust pan, broom and dust pan, bull in a china shop living, business, business is not often lived gently, can’t beat the last words of condemned prisoners, capacity of the human mind, championship games & events, change begins in the head, change forces prioritizing, change is easier if you simplify, change takes remarkable effort, changed behavior, changing objectives to make change, chaos, chaos creates opportunities, character, choice between alternatives, choices, choices leading to full life, choices we make or do not make, choosing to be true, clumsy, collaboration, collector of moments, combination of words, committed to showing up everyday, communication, complex simplified, consistency is underrated, consistency of character, consistency of character is underrated, consistency of values, controlled chaos, courage and faith, courage doesn't always roar, courage is about resiliency, cowardly decision making, cynicism, dealing with adversity, dealing with everyday life, deceiving others, deceiving yourself, decision making, decision making under uncertainty, defining happiness in moments, depth of character to face everyday life, desire everything at the same time, differentiation, disappointment created by expectations, bazillion second chances, life is a string of minutes, life is about making choices, life is complex, life is not a mission, life is not a straight line, life is not as simple as it seems, life is often not lived best gently, life is tough, life lessons, life not defined by meeting objectives, life thoughts, Life truths, life's white lies, listening, little failures versus big failures, live life to the fullest, living a strong life, living life backwards but still question, logical decision making, logical versus illogical, lying to yourself, make weaknesses irrelevant, making changes personally, making choices, making the hard choice, managing perceptions, may have had only one truly memorable literary moment, maybe it is better to admit we failed at something, maybe life is not that complicated, measurement of failure, measuring life, memorable words, messaging, moments are like a balance sheet, moral fiber, more often we are left with dry-as-dust clichés, most things in life are not black or white, motivated by a desire to achieve, my undergraduate alma mater USC, no lawsuits from these accidents, no one wants to trust chaos, not exactly fair to expect deep insights, nothing is original, obligation to do, obligation to do the right thing, once doubt enters it takes on huge proportions, ongoing search for the right words, only few find the way, oops, ordinary life with extraordinary responsibilities, ordinary people don't think they are remarkable, organizing chaos, original ideas, our lives are but a sequence of accidents, perfection is the thief, personal thoughts, perspective can help with the complex, planning your last words is no more profitable a pursuit, power of words, prioritizing actions, providing perspective, pursuing the way, put failing in perpsective, questioning the unquestionable, quotations, quotes, rage against the dying of the light, reason to believe, relatively obscure who delivered history’s best exit lines, resiliency, resiliency and character, respect, responsibility, right is right, right words, safe, say it differently, say it differently to be distinct, say that something is happening when it is, saying the right thing, saying the wrong thing or saying nothing, scared, see your own reality, seek truth, seeking the way of truth, seem inordinately exorbitant and useless, self actualization, self doubt, self esteem through problem solving, self truth, self worth, shades of gray, shortcomings leading to consequences, simple words, simplicity in life, simplicity seems too chaotic, slippery slope, slippery surface of irrelevant brilliance, small gestures in trivial looking moments, smallest actions contribute, soft choices, Some last words will forever remain an enigma, Some moments in life make you speechless, something more important than fear, sometimes systems work that should not work, sorting out the truth, speechless. finding the right words at the right time, stand for something within yourself, standing on the uncertainty pedestal, standing up every time we fall down, stop and think, straight lines, straight lines are rare in life, strategy, strength against adversity, strength of character, strength of character to make change, strip away the undoable and identify the doable, struggle between energy and indolence, struggle between vitality and decay, Stuff I Like, stumble upon doing it right, stumbled, stumbled on a rug, stunning grace in the face of overwhelming life, supposed last words, talking, Tell them I said something, that i will be tomorrow, the answers are within you, the dying clearly has other things on their minds, the last words you get to say in Life, the moments that render you speechless, the most genuine last words, the most powerful weapon in life is not a mission, the mundane act of dying, the word failure is tough love, there is no formula for good choices, thinking, thinking impossible things, thinking is good, this i am today, thoughts, to be sure of you, trivial moments, trivial moments in bigger life, trophy was shattered, trust, truth, truth and expectations, truth goggles, truth is rarely simple, truth is what really happened, truth or lies, truth or nothing, truth to oneself, uncertainty is a bitch, under the spotlight of death, unquestionable, untangling people, use your imagination, using the right words, wacky trophy ceremonies at the end, we all fail, what I know opinions, what is management, what is the alternative, what is the place of words, what looks like chaos, what we have is not what we need, what we need to get us through, what we want is not what we need, whatever it takes, whatever it takes to cross that dark bridge, when he stumbled, when the time comes I say something maybe useful, why trophies are not dropped more often, wish it would happen more often, won the conference women’s tennis championship, words, words that become deeds, words worse than nothing unless they do something, work is often up to people, you are not a failure because you fail, you cannot dwell on every moment that slipped by
